Charles Stuckey, Curator Twentieth Century Painting and Sculpture, The Art Institute of Chicago, will be the moderator of a symposium between four internationally recognized sculptors, Vito Acconci, Richard Deacon, Richard Serra, and Judith Shea whose site specific works will be exhibited in the Invitational portion of this years Sculpture Chicago. Sculpture Chicago ’89 opening May 10, 1989 for a six-month open air exhibition will be held on the newly renovated Pioneer Court and the adjacent Cityfront Center Plaza on North Michigan Avenue just north of the Chicago River. Sculpture Chicago is a six year old not-for-profit art organization dedicated to bringing monumental sculpture and the process of creating it to the public. In addition to the Invitational site specific works exhibited by out guest panelists, a five-week Art-In-Process Symposium will feature six sculptors selected from a juried competition who will build their work on site. Sotheby’s, Inc. is the sponsor of the panel discussion for Sculpture Chicago ’89. Our Annual Meeting will immediately follow the panel discussion.
