Art in the Netherlands and the Sonsbeek Festival


September 1–8, 2020

This special journey to the Netherlands is dedicated to art in Amsterdam and Arnhem. We will enjoy an exclusive, curator-led tour of the Sonsbeek Festival. Visit private studios of renowned Dutch artists and tour prominent private art collections in Amsterdam. Meet curators at Amsterdam’s best museums, including the Van Gogh Museum, the Kröller-Muller, and the Stedelijk. This trip will be accompanied by Hendrik Folkerts, Dittmer Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Institute.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate, good walking ability

DEPOSIT & FINAL PAYMENT: A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 per paying participant will be required to guarantee participation in the program. This may be paid by check, by Visa or MasterCard, or by bank wire transfer. Final payment will be invoiced and is due on May 15, 2020. Final payment must be made by credit card, check, or bank wire transfer payable to Society for Contemporary Art. Registrations will be accepted beyond this date on a space-available basis with payment in full by credit card, check, or bank wire transfer only.

FLIGHTS: Air arrangements are not included in the tour package. All participants are responsible for making their own air arrangements arriving into Amsterdam and departing from Amsterdam.

TERMS & CONDITIONS: International Seminar Design, Inc. (ISDI) acts only as an agent for the participant with respect to transportation, accommodations, and all other services relating to this tour. ISDI, Society for Contemporary Art, and/or their agents assume no responsibility or liability for any act, error or omission, or for any injury, loss, accident, delay or irregularity, which may be caused by any defect in any aircraft, ship, train, bus, or other carrier, or through neglect or default of any subcontractor or other third party, which may be used wholly or in part in the performance of their duty to the participants of the tour. ISDI and Society for Contemporary Art reserve the right to cancel any tour prior to departure for any reason including insufficient numbers of participants, as well as the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of the tour at any time. If bookings fall below the minimum required, passengers will be advised of additional costs or itinerary alterations before departure date.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: All cancellations must be received in writing by Society for Contemporary Art, and charges are calculated as of the day notification
is received in writing by Society for Contemporary Art. If a tour member cancels, the following scale of charges is incurred: There is a non-refundable administrative fee of $1,000 per person. The costs associated with any tickets purchased for planned activities (as indicated in the itinerary) are non-refundable. Written cancellation received by Society for Contemporary Art on or before May 15, 2020: full refund minus $1,000 per person administrative fee. Written cancellation received by ISDI on or between May 16 and July 17, 2020: full refund of any recoverable land costs, less $4,950 per person cancellation charge (includes administrative fee). Cancellations received on or after July 18, 2020: no refund. After the tour has commenced, it is not possible to issue any refunds. No refunds for any unused portion of the tour including, but not limited to, occasional missed meals or any missed sightseeing tours. Costs for promotion, staff, and other group expenses are not refundable. In the case of cancellation, substitutions are not acceptable. The tour cost is non-transferable, and no substitutions are allowed. If ISDI or Society for Contemporary Art cancels the tour due to low registrations, active registrants will receive a full refund of all tour payments.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: ISDI and Society for Contemporary Art strongly recommend the purchase of trip cancellation insurance. Society for Contemporary Art will send you travel insurance information upon tour registration. In the event that you must cancel your participation in a travel program, trip cancellation insurance may be the only source of reimbursement.

INCLUSIONS: Seven (7) nights at the five-star Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam; breakfast daily, 6 lunches; 4 dinners; coffee and tea included with each lunch and dinner; 4 glasses of wine or beer per day; private airport transfers to the Conservatorium Hotel upon arrival at the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) on September 1; private airport transfers from the Conservatorium Hotel to the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) on September 8; private air-conditioned motor coach for all land transportation as outlined in the itinerary; expert, local English-speaking guides to accompany the tour where necessary; services of an ISDI Tour Manager for the duration of the tour; entrance fees to all sites listed in the itinerary; gratuities for guides and motor coach drivers; personal listening devices for guided excursions; bottled water for daily excursions on private motor coach.

EXCLUSIONS: Airfare, airline taxes, and airline fuel surcharges; passport and visa fees; airport porterage; transfers to and from
the airport for individuals not using the group transfers; meals not included in the itinerary; room service; gratuities for hotel housekeeping staff; activities marked optional on the itinerary; any personal items not listed as included such as telephone calls, personal services and travel extensions, room service and valet service; items such as wines, liquors, mineral water, à la carte orders and laundry charges.
