Charles Gwathmey

Four our opening meeting of the 1986-87 season, we are fortunate to have as our speaker Charles Gwathmey of Gwathmey, Siegel & Associates, Architects. He will discuss with us “Conceptualism is Not Modernism.” Mr. Gwathmey is noted by The American Academy Institute of Arts & Letters as “an architect who has made a significant contribution to architecture as an art.” He has held faculty positions at the Schools of Architecture at Princeton, Columbia, Yale, Harvard and Cooper Union. Winners of many Society awards, the Gwathmey, Siegel office is known for upholding the principles of Modernism in architecture. The office maintains a varied practice – residential, corporate and institutional – buildings and interiors. They are most recently involved in a highly publicized addition to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum.
