Frank H. Goodyear

Today’s renewed interest in Realism will be discussed by our speaker at the fifth meeting of the season, Frank H. Goodyear, Jr., Curator, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia. Mr. Goodyear organized the exhibition “Contemporary American Realism Since 1960,” which opened at the Pennsylvania Academy in September 1981, traveling to Richmond, Oakland and Europe. His new book, Contemporary American Realism Since 1960, published by New York Graphic Society, serves also as the exhibition’s catalogue. An article on this topic written by Mr. Goodyear recently appeared in Portfolio magazine (November/December 1981). He has been in his present position as Curator at the Pennsylvania Academy since 1972, and previously served as acting Curator, American Painting and Sculpture, Yale University Art Gallery (Fall 1974) and was Distinguished Guest Lecturer, University of Texas, Austin (January-February 1979). His lecture for this evening’s meeting is entitled “The Meaning of Subject Matter in Contemporary American Realism.”
