Matthew Armstrong

Matthew Armstrong is the curator of the Lightyear Capital art collection and art advisor to financier Donald Marron. Lightyear Capital?s collection encompasses more than one hundred works of art since 1950, including works by artists such as Franz Kline, Cy Twombly, Jasper Johns and Ellsworth Kelly as well as younger artists such as John Currin, Neo Rauch, Tom Friedman, Brice Marden and Richard Phillips. Featuring primarily paintings and works on paper, the collection has expanded to include some photography and video. The private collection of Donald Marron showcases works by Modern Masters of the early 20th Century: Picasso, Leger, Matisse, and Klee. Armstrong received a B.A. from Columbia University and an M.A. from New York University?s Institute of Fine Arts. He worked at the Museum of Modern Art and at Christie’s and has taught art history at Cornell, Hunter College, and at New York University. Before becoming curator of Lightyear Capital?s collection he served as the curator of the PaineWebber and UBS art collections. Please join us for what promises to be an extraordinary evening.
