Maurice Tuchman

Our speaker will be Maurice Tuchman, Senior Curator, Modern Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Mr. Tuchman organized the highly acclaimed exhibition “The Avant Garde in Russia 1910-1930: New Perspectives”, which opened in Los Angeles in July 1980 and is on view until February 15, 1981 at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C. In Mr. Tuchman’s lecture he will comment on the Russian Avant Garde exhibition in relation to contemporary art and will show slides from the Los Angeles installation. Appearing in this exhibition is the “Portrait of Goncharova and Larionov” lent from The Art Institute of Chicago’s permanent collection. members may be interested to read the article about this exhibition in Art News, October 1980 (by John E.
