The Society for Contemporary Art is organizing a study trip to Mexico City. We are creating an engaging itinerary that will focus on contemporary art and architecture. To experience the most within a limited time, the schedule will be comprehensively planned to include full days of th following sights and activities. The home of Luis Barragan, Mexico’s most important architect of the 20th Century, and the Chapel for the Capuchinas Sacramentarias, Galvez House, and Gilardi house?also designed by Barragan. Meeting with Ricardo and Victor Legorreta?Mexico’s most important contemporary architects?in their private studio. Frida Kahlo’s Blue House and the Dolores Olmedo Museum, housing 150 works by Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Private collection visits including Haydee Rovirosa’s penthouse and the Jumex Collection. OMR Gallery, Enrique Guerrero Gallery, Kurimanzutto Gallery, Garash Gallery, Nina Menocal Gallery, and Art & Idea Gallery. Museo Tamayo, Museo de Arte Moderno, and Laboratorio de Arte Alameda. Visits to artists’ studios: possibly Betsabee Romero, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Thomas Glassford?depending upon their selection of works to be viewed.
