We have planned a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum to see the “Gilbert and George” Exhibition. We will be guided through the exhibit by Russell Bowman, who is Chief Curator at the Museum and responsible for the exhibition. Gilbert and George are two British artists who have, for many years, combined performance pieces with more permanent forms of their work. The Milwaukee visit will give us a rare opportunity to learn a great deal about these two-as-one artists, both from the exhibition itself and from Mr. Bowman’s commentary. We shall also have the pleasant opportunity to visit one of Milwaukee’s most significant private collections. Hope and Abraham Melamed have invited us to their home to see their truly remarkable collection of Cubist works on paper.
