R.B. Kitaj

Our speaker will be the American artist R.B. Kitaj, expatriate in England, who for the past 15 years has been one of the most visible figures in European painting. What most distinguishes his work and sets it apart from his contemporaries is its unabashed attempt to create a “major pictorial style based on a combination of drawing and literature.” With his retrospective of 102 paintings and drawings at the Hirshhorn Museum, R.B. Kitaj has come home in force.
