Robert Volpe

On April 10, 1982, the news media told us of a major art robbery. This was one of many art robberies which occur every year. Our guest speaker will be the gentleman who was responsible for recovering the majority of the works taken in that April robbery. He is Robert Volpe, a detective with the New York City Police Department. Mr. Volpe has excellent credentials for his position. he is an artist, an art historian, and a museum curator. He studied at the School of Art and Design, at the Parsons’ School of Design and is a member of the Student Art League. He is on the Board of Directors of the Salmagundi Club, the oldest art club in America which is 117 years old. He is also Curator of the Antietam National Museum of Sharpsburg, Maryland.
