A generous supporter of our museum, Michael Alper is a member of the Committee on Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago. Recently renovated by Dirk Denison Architects, his residence balances the restored 1924 Benjamin Marshall designed building with accents of modern materials including patterned red gumwood custom woodwork, rich polished stone, and carefully illuminated interior glass featured throughout. His distinguished art collection features contemporary photography, including major works by Andrea Gursky, Thomas Struth, Thomas Ruff, Rineke Dijkstra, Jack Pierson, and Jeff Wall, along with work by Spencer Finch and Ai Wei Wei, who are also represented in the Goldenberg collection. Helyn Goldenberg is Sotheby’s Midwest Chairman and Director. Her extensive collection is housed in the same vintage apartment building as the Alper residence, highlights paintings, drawings, and sculptures by modern masters Ellsworth Kelly, Cy Twombly, Brice Marden, Blinky Palermo, Alexander Calder, Piero Manzoni, and Robert Ryman along with work by Olafur Eliason. Her stunning residence features spectacular views of Lake Michigan You must be a Sponsor member in good standing. There is no charge for this event.
