The First Society for Contemporary Art Multiple

Unveiled

Please join us for a unique and special event: the unveiling of She Loves Me She Loves Me Not, the first multiple published by the Society for Contemporary Art and created by artist Cat Chow. Following will be a conversation with the artist and renowned interviewer Victoria Lautman. This evening is part of Artropolis and the emerging art fair, NEXT, and begins with cocktail reception that offers SCA members and their guests the first glimpse of our multiple. Cat Chow is an artist, designer, educator and performer who poetically transforms everyday materials into conceptual objects that are elegantly simple in form, yet complex in construction. Her labor-intensive work has been exhibited at the New Museum of Contemporary Art (2000), the Chicago Cultural Center (2002), The Art Institute of Chicago (2006), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (2003), and Museum of Contemporary, Chicago (2004, 1999). Chow has received grants from the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation (2003) and the Illinois Arts Council (2002, 2005). She currently has a solo exhibition opening on 19 April at the Elmhurst Art Museum. There will be a reception with the artist on 20 April. Victoria Lautman is one of most distinctive and thoughtful voices in Chicago?s world of arts, culture, and the humanities. As founder, host, and executive-producer of Writers on the Record with Victoria Lautman, Lautman created the city’s premier author-interview series, which is also a three-pronged, multi-media brand unique to Chicago. Since 2004 this series has drawn some of the most significant national and international authors to Chicago, including Frank McCourt and Michael Cunningham and artists Bill Viola, Audrey Niffenegger, Ed Ruscha and Anne Wilson, among many others. Artropolis has a wealth of offerings from dealers at Art Chicago to the emerging art fair, NEXT, to the Antiques Fair, New Insight, The Artists Projects and the Intuit Show, as well as over fifty special events for the general public. This is a members and guests only event. There is no charge however entry into Artopolis is required. All current SCA members received a VIP pass courtesy of Artropolis. All reservations must be made by Wednesday 23 April.
