Vincent Scully

For our first meeting of the 1981-82 season, we are delighted to announce that our speaker will be the distinguished architectural historian, Vincent Scully. The John Trumbull Professor of the History of Art at Yale University, Professor Scully has written many books on the subject (to name a few: The Shingle Style, and The Shingle Style Today, and American Architecture and Urbanism and is renowned as a lecturer at Yale where his classes are filled to capacity. Professor Scully was himself a subject of a profile in The New Yorker, February 18. 1980. His topic for the evening will be “The Ideal and the Real in Modern Architecture”.
