Walking Tour of Gold Coast Collections

This fall the we hope you can join us for a truly unique and special event?a walking tour featuring an exclusive viewing of three world-class Chicago collections located in the Gold Coast neighborhood: the Ed and Betty Harris collection, the Claudia Luebbers collection, and Martin and Danielle Zimmerman collection. This members and guest only event offers a rare opportunity to experience these distinguished private collections. Ed and Betty Harris?s architecturally significant residence was Howard Van Doren Shaw's Chicago apartment, now fully restored and renovated by John Vinci. Their world-class collection centers on pre-Columbian ceramics recently featured in the Art Institute exhibition "Casas Grandes and the Ceramic Art of the Ancient Southwest," along with contemporary works by Gerhard Richter, Robert Ryman and Daniel Buren. The Claudia Luebbers collection highlights contemporary painting and sculpture with notable works by Lee Bontecou, Gilbert & George, Alfredo Jarr, Mona Hatoum, Sylvia Plimack Mangold, James Lee Byars, Tony Tasset, Lorna Simpson, William Kentridge, and many more. The Martin and Danielle Zimmerman collection of contemporary art focuses on the intersection of recent conceptual and photographic practices including outstanding works by Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman, Ed Ruscha, Sigmar Polke, Rineke Dijkstra, Bruce Nauman, Jenny Holzer, Andreas Gursky, and Thomas Struth among others.
