Please join Mark Pascale, Janet and Craig Duchossois Curator, in the Prints and Drawings Study Center for an intimate look and overview of the many gifts of Contemporary Drawings made by Irving Stenn, Jr. and his family. Mark will speak about his journey with Irving as a collector, and preview his plans for an exhibition of highlights from the most recent Stenn gifts being presented in the department's galleries June 28–September 15, 2025. After the tour, members will convene at the Art Institute's Member Lounge for a breakfast reception with coffee and pastries.
Mark Pascale is a lithographer and curator with an in-depth knowledge of contemporary and historical techniques of printmaking. He has been active in the Chicago art world for over forty years, as a curator, researcher, and teacher. Currently, he is Janet and Craig Duchossois Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at The Art Institute of Chicago, and concurrently Senior Lecturer in Print Media, at School of the Art Institute. He has an impressive record of exhibitions and publications, most recently for the exhibition catalogues Christina Ramberg: A Retrospective, Lygia Pape: Tecelares, Joseph E. Yoakum: What I Saw, Hairy Who? 1966–1969, Charles White, Along the Lines: Selected Drawings by Saul Steinberg, Martin Puryear: Multiple Dimensions, Contemporary Drawings from the Irving Stenn Jr. Collection, and Jasper Johns: Gray. In addition, Pascale remains active as a lecturer and presenter, with venues including The Museum of Modern Art, Cranbrook Academy, Chazen Museum, University of Wisconsin-Madison; IMPACT IV International Printmaking Conference, Berlin and Poznan, Poland (Session Chair); and the Mid America Print Council Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (panelist). Currently, he is working on exhibitions featuring the work of Beatriz González, and Gladys Nilsson and Jim Nutt.
