Happy Hour | GRAY Gallery
Exhibition viewing and reception
Join your fellow SCA members at GRAY Gallery for a tour of Torkwase Dyson: Of Line and Memory, the gallery's first major solo exhibition with the artist. Working across the disciplines of painting, drawing, installation and sculpture, Torkwase Dyson distills the spatial and affective residues of diasporic histories to envision new modes of environmental liberation. Expanding on memories of her own upbringing and lived experience navigating Chicago’s lakefront, river systems, and urban architecture, Dyson delves further into her examination of the entrenched histories of Chicago's waterways.
Of Line and Memory is an exploration of this research and includes a new monumental sculpture, large scale paintings, and glass and wood constructions. The exhibition will be on view at GRAY Chicago November 8, 2024 - January 25, 2025.
Light refreshments will be served. Complimentary to SCA members and their guests.
